If you haven’t been to Portland, Oregon yet, July 11-17, 2008 might be the right time. Laurelhurst Theater, a theater-pub that charges only $3 for admissions and has a small handful of wonderfully hopped Oregon beers (which you can drink while watching your movies), presents The Driver. The Driver is the cult classic car chase movie that gave The Terminator it’s dark macho look and feel.
I live a 5-minute-walk from the theater and it has become one of my favorite movie theaters of all time. It’s small and comfortable and always a fun time. One of its best traits is that every week it plays an older film, along with it’s normal selection of indie films and Hollywood films. They have recently played Blade Runner, Mothra, and Sinbad. I’m hoping that they will serve some of that organic Hopworks beer during The Driver showing because I recently tasted The Hopworks Hop Stupid IPA and it quickly made it to my top 10 beer list.
